Eye-catching bike racks arrive in the Beltline

The first of four unconventional, but fully functional, bike rack collections are now in place in the Beltline and response to the art pieces has been overwhelmingly positive.

Check Out Calgary’s Coolest New Public Art Pieces

The Beltline’s looking extra spiffy these days and we’re pretty sure Project Bike Racks is to blame (thank). They just installed a sunshine-yellow art piece on 11th ave and 5th St SW, and it’s just as functional as it is fun to look at.

Fun meets function on new Calgary bike racks: ‘encouraging year-round cyclists’

“We know that the more bicycle amenities that a city has, the more likely people are to use them,” designer Alyssa Kelle said. “That’s encouraging year-round cyclists, because you can really cycle all year here.”

Combining fun with function, the racks add some eye-catching public art to the downtown area.
